The way we live - - many of the people who are following our adventures are RVers so they will understand – for the rest of you it might be time to try to explain. The RV lifestyle is one of camaraderie – it is impossible to arrive at an RV park, find a spot and park your rig without meeting at least one person (unless you sneak in at some special time – like meal time). It is not a lifestyle for a “Grump”.
MK and some of her friends decided to welcome in the New Year with a ‘progressive dinner party’.
The D, D & I trio were the first stop – appetizers = shish kebobs on the barbeque, wine and munchies on the patio – great weather.
MK & I were next on the route – salad = a big bowl of ‘green leaves’ and smaller bowls with ‘chopped up stuff ’ like peppers, onions, carrots. The celery was in glasses with ice – to be used to stir the Bloody Marys (there was also water and diet pop – and someone brought her own wine!)
Next stop the home of J and C (our Alaska traveling buds) where we had - the main course = lasagna with garlic bread – I am sure there was some beverage but I brought my ‘celery’ dipped in…ah, tomato juice.
Final food stop, M and E had the – DESSERT TABLE = pies, chocolate cake, cookies, a jello fruit salad (love it!), coffee (uh – skip that it wouldn’t go with the celery).
Then back the J and C’s for some cards, saw the ball drop, then home to bed - - - all in all a great way to spend New Year’s Eve.

Hope everyone has a great, New Year ...........

UPS Delivers................. at least, I think that is one of their slogans. I saw an article about UPS drivers using "alternate" forms of transportation - - and here in our RV Resort they do indeed have a different delivery system:

it saves having the big, brown truck running around the park - probably makes it easier for the driver as well. They deliver the packages to a container trailer in a parking lot near the front of the Resort and then load up the smaller trailer for in park delivery - - - really a cool, Yule idea

November to remember

Well - it has been a November - finally all of the political ads are over - - now if only the 'newsies' would stop harping on every negative thing - we're here in Florida, surrounded by friends and we keep looking down at the grass and not up at the roots !!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all

hmmm - it has been a good bit of time since I posted to this site - and now the title seems a bit 'off' or maybe not. After Summer is over we dust off the motor home and begin our journey southward to our Florida home. This year we journeyed through Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and finally down into Florida (yes all you map buffs - we did pass through Alabama on I-10 but we didn't stop). When we travel in the MoHo, I don't usually plan to travel more than 200 miles in a day ( on the road AFTER rush hour and in a campsite well before evening rush !!)

We took factory tours of the John Deere Tractor plant and the Winnebago Motor Home plant (our Itasca MH is a Winne product). Both of these were in Iowa.

Oh yes - the little black Miata is our "Toad" - that is the car we tow behind our motorhome - quite a size difference going from one vehicle to the other !!!!!!!!!!!! :)

We also visitied a fantastic 'living' museum in Mt. Pleasant - the Old Thresher Museum - it had many old steam powered tractors and pieces of equipment - it also had some great displays of early farm life - it was definitely worth a visit - plan two or more hours for this one.

St. Louis - we did the arch, saw the fountain, went to a shrine ... had a good time. Saw where Lewis and Clark started out from on their quest...............

Hannibal, Missouri - - Mark Twain - we took one day for the town and the next morning for a visit to the two caves - both located on or at the Mark Twain Campground.

must remember

the marvelous thing about the friends that I have is that most are as silly as I am - rants, introspections, non-sense mental wanderings.....simply great.

Dennis and Debby - on safari - now Debby is tracking an elusive, mirror spider..................

But I must remember that among my friends I have two that are special - they are the photographers - so this blog is a promise to them that I will endeavor to make sure that I capture their digital images for them. Ian - I did pretty good on the golf course and the Safari Tour but I will continue to work at it. For my friend, Z, who takes so many pictures of our motorcycle trips - I apologize - we have not captured you very often - and you are even more photogenic than Ian.....

for Daphne and Steven - you let Ian get away with eating Jaffa cakes and sipping tea whilst you worked the locks and narrow boat !! I have it on good authority that he can and did do that sort of thing in Florida!! Although, I am not sure what he was doing in this picture....

Here he is dusting off his hands after actually getting off of our conveyance and closing and securing the gate !!!!

Florida sure is flat !!! and we are in Highlands County !!!
